How do I preform an Engine Flush? Quote | Reply

Hey Guys!

I've been told I need an Engine Flush and the dealer wants to charge me $300.00 for it. To be honest I'd rather learn and do it myself. Only thing is I can't find a straight answer online! Hopping you guys can help me out Cool Is it just the oil system or coolant as well? I have a 2004 Honda Hornet and anything you can help me with would be very much appreciated!

There is a CHEEPER way to do it. Go get enough White Vinegar to fill your cooling system up. 2-3 gallons should be more than enough. Drain your coolant into a good pan so you can properly dispose of it. you will want to put New 50/50 antifreze back in when done. fill the system up with the vinegar. start the bike and let it run for a few minutes to get the air out. Shut off the bike and allow it to soak overnight in the vinegar. Drain the vinegar into a clean pan. you may be able to use it on another engine some time. Now rince the system with plain water I use a water hose to do this. Put everything back together and add your new 50/50 mix of Antifreze in the system. Start the bike and warm it up. make sure you have new antifreze in your overflow. shut the bike off and keep an eye on the overflow tank so that it does not go dry. As far as the oil... Why would they want you to flush it?
