when i shift from first to second i pull in the clutch back off the gas shift let out clutch and the bike feels like you have down shifted not up shift.This is a bmw r1100rt first bike great price.Can someone help with this am i shifting to late or what bike was checked out have all papers.I'm sure it is something i'm doing.Thanks

I think that you are shifting too soon and not too late, but there might be some gearbox damage from the previous owner. How does this happen exactly, do the revs go up ?

I had the exact same symptoms on an old Yamaha i used to own ( not my current ) and the reason was that because of heavy use the gear was missing teeth. Strangely enough the gearbox did not make any noise and after I pulled it apart I found pieces of shredded metal down in the gearbox

Better take it to qualified personnel they'll now much more than any of us can tell you. I have to agree I think it’s missing teeth

Relax it's a matter of tightening a few bolts my instructor had the same problem on the BMW that he had for personal use Wink

Maybe it's a problem with your driving style try revving it up a little more before going into extreme solutions

eroll that happened to me too i was afraid I’ll pull a wheelie by mistake and i was shifting very low in the rev range. Blush
