I ride a '09 Connie...and I agree for the money how can a Concours be beat? (mine cost me 11K new off the floor in late 2010). I added a larger windshield, center luggage box, heated grips, custom stop lights, sidestand warning buzzer, a nice winter riding suit and summer air suit...and a few other odd and ends. So far my total investment is around 13K dollars. My brother has a beemer that cost him over $23K. He's got half the cylinders I have with everything else being identical...so what can I say? YES a very good bike for the money. Also I'm not clear about the people who seem to imply the connie isn't fast. I go zero to 60mph in first gear fast enough to make my front want to lift off the ground. I've ridden chain driven bikes that only dream of being that fast. Not to mention having much more limited RPM range. (my connie redlines at 10,500rpm) And how about the HP? My connie has 139hp. Try to find hp rating on the HD website for any of their models....they are not there because they are embarassed. Granted there are faster/quicker chain driven bikes out there, but imagine the connie engine with a chain driven rear wheel. I'd dare say the connie compares with the best. It is hard to imagine, but there are people who actually believe just because their bikes that cost twice as much, they are somehow 'better' or of higher quality. As far as I'm concerned the truth is in the 'pudding'. I drive my connie in the cold, rain, heat, wind or whatever I have to deal with. The connie has always been 'sure footed' and well behaved. When I need to pass it is nice to be able to downshift at 70 mph and zoom past a truck at over 100mph in a second. If I need to stop, I know my ABS braking system will work effectively and smoothly. As the road turns from straight to twisties I have confidence that my connie can do anything I am comfortable with and then some. I like having a vehicle I am not afraid to 'drive' whenever I need transportation, period. I'm not into driving a bike my grandfather or dad drove...I want technology, horsepower, smoothness/handling, dependability and most of all fun. The connie delivers it all with real style and looks...at a price that beats all the competition. I've owned a Harley panhead (over-heated, leaked, blew a piston, made my hands numb on any long ride), '74 Norton 850 Commando (cafe racing at it's finest, excellent fun, hard on engine isolators), '77 Honda CB750 (dependable, smooth, nice power range), '78 Yamaha XS750 (my first shaft bike, unfortunately was wrecked before I got 8,000 miles on it)....the connie is my favorite bike so far. Sometimes I sits....sometimes I sits and thinks...but mostly I ride.
