Hi Hymerdue, these noises we hear on our machines are sometimes worse than they sound.I dont want to be a bringer of bad tidings but suspect the clutch, or thrust bearing, which could be rubbing against the diaghpram of the pressure plate, or a finger could be broken on the diaghram.Anyways the best is to strip the g/box and see for your self.Try to get as many opinions from experienced guys, even the agents, because at the end of the day you must decide.I read somewhere that the Cruisers like I own, need the splin shaft to be lubricated with a grease, to enable smooth operation for the clutch plate.Alternatively first check clutch fluid and gearlinkages for correct play.Start with the simpler things, before approaching the more serious one, because I know it's no fun pulling the G/box, and the workmanship quality is questionable. I hope that it is something simple and wish you luck. Regards , Louis
